Visibilicemos el maltrato a los mayores<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

\"Visibilitzar<\/p>\n

Apenas hace un a\u00f1o m\u00e1s de sesenta entidades firmamos un manifiesto para frenar el maltrato para las personas mayores. Un texto con el que se ponen las bases para acabar con esta situaci\u00f3n que, en muchos casos, por la vulnerabilidad y fragilidad de las personas, se vive en silencio. Por este motivo, queremos dar visibilidad el maltrato a las personas mayores en la actualidad.<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 es el maltrato a las personas mayores?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Seg\u00fan la Declaraci\u00f3n de Toronto para la Prevenci\u00f3n Global del Maltrato de las personas Mayores (2002) es \u00abLa acci\u00f3n \u00fanica o repetida, o la falta de la respuesta apropiada<\/strong>, que ocurra dentro de cualquier relaci\u00f3n donde exista una expectativa de confianza y que ocasione da\u00f1o o angustia a una persona mayor\u201d.<\/p>\n

De hecho, la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud<\/a> (OMS) lo define como \u00abuna de las formas de violencia m\u00e1s oculta, silenciada y menos estudiada<\/strong>\u00ab\u00b7 Precisamente este organismo, en el mes de octubre del a\u00f1o 2016 calcul\u00f3 que cerca de 1 de cada 10 personas mayores sufri\u00f3 malos tratos en el mes anterior. Y a nivel mundial se estima que, entre el 4% y el 6% de las personas mayores han sufrido alguna tipolog\u00eda de maltrato a lo largo de su vida.<\/p>\n

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 no se detecta?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

En nuestra sociedad se producen situaciones de abuso y existe una barrera para reconocer el maltrato. Se produce en el seno de nuestra sociedad: familias, instituciones, en las personas que las componen y en las organizaciones p\u00fablicas del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Adem\u00e1s, nos encontramos que s\u00f3lo un 9,8% de las personas mayores denuncian la situaci\u00f3n de abuso<\/strong> que viven por miedo, verg\u00fcenza y por el sentimiento de culpa que les genera esta situaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

El maltrato en Catalu\u00f1a<\/strong><\/h4>\n

En Catalu\u00f1a, el a\u00f1o 2016 se present\u00f3 como instrumento para medir la incidencia de maltrato el Formulario de recogida de casos para detectar situaciones de malos tratos a las personas mayores<\/strong>. Los primeros resultados que se conocieron son que, en los 235 casos detectados, generalmente las personas que han cometido presuntamente los maltratos son cercanas. En un 59% de los casos son los descendientes directos y en un 14% la pareja. El perfil de las personas maltratadas son mayoritariamente mujeres (77%) y tienen unos 80 a\u00f1os.<\/strong> Un 25% del total viven solos; un 40% tienen deterioro cognitivo<\/strong> y un 69% necesita ayuda para realizar actividades b\u00e1sicas de la vida diaria.<\/p>\n

El tipo de maltrato m\u00e1s frecuente es el econ\u00f3mico<\/strong> (en un 57% de los casos), seguido del psicol\u00f3gico (55%), la negligencia (32%) y el abuso f\u00edsico (18%). El maltrato f\u00edsico aumenta en los grupos de edad mayores. Tambi\u00e9n hay casos de vulneraci\u00f3n de derechos (10%), abandono (9%) o maltrato sexual (1%).<\/p>\n

La mayor\u00eda de los casos se detectan a trav\u00e9s de los Servicios Sociales (un 38%). Tambi\u00e9n es importante en la detecci\u00f3n el papel de la familia (15% de los casos), los Servicios de Salud (14%) y la persona afectada (13,2%).<\/p>\n

\u00bfQu\u00e9 previsiones hay?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A nivel mundial, la OMS prev\u00e9 que el n\u00famero de casos de maltrato a personas mayores aumenten. El motivo es que muchos pa\u00edses tienen poblaciones que envejecen r\u00e1pidamente y es posible que sus necesidades no se satisfagan plenamente debido a la falta de recursos.<\/p>\n

Se prev\u00e9 que en el 2050 las personas mayores de 60 a\u00f1os se multiplicar\u00e1n, pasando de los 900 millones de 2015 a los 2.000 millones. Si la proporci\u00f3n de personas mayores v\u00edctimas de maltrato se mantiene constante, el n\u00famero de v\u00edctimas aumentar\u00e1 r\u00e1pidamente llegando a los 320 millones en 2050<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
